Ah, food. One of life's pleasures and necessities. We can't live without it, so how could we possibly leave it out of someone's communication. The fact is we can't. This is a must for any communication, including AAC, so here's a list of food. This list can include any and all food, and as such contains foods from around the world.
Remember, if your AAC user has any food related sensitivities, including sensory issues, intollerances, or allergies it's important to include those foods and the words to explain their issues, so that they can communicate their issues and protect themselves from harm. They need to be able to explain to others, such as parents, teachers, care givers, friends, wait staff and food vendors about their food related needs, like 'I'm allergic to _', 'I can't eat (food) because I have a sensory issue with it. Please don't put it on my food.' You NEED to include these words and comments into your AAC user's AAC.
